A Helpful Hand Maintenance was born from a clear need in the childcare industry: reliable, trustworthy support for repairs and ongoing maintenance. Shannon Smith, a passionate advocate for early childhood education and the owner of multiple childcare centers, recognized that staying ahead of maintenance needs was key to minimizing costly, last-minute repairs.
Her firsthand experience inspired the vision for a specialized service provider that truly understands the unique needs of childcare facilities. After connecting with Adam, the two partnered to turn this vision into a reality—laying the groundwork for what would become AHHM. Today, our approach is shaped by Shannon’s deep knowledge of licensing standards and commitment to compliance, helping centers operate safely, smoothly, and with confidence. Contact Us

Shannon Smith is a lifelong early childhood educator, childcare center owner, and co-founder of A Helpful Hand Maintenance, a maintenance company created specifically with childcare environments in mind. With over 25 years of experience operating A Kid’s World—a farm-to-ECE childcare program with locations in Walton, Newton, and Butts Counties—Shannon brings a deep understanding of what it takes to keep early learning spaces safe, functional, and nurturing.
After years of struggling to find reliable maintenance help that truly understood the unique needs of childcare facilities, Shannon teamed up with longtime friend and skilled tradesman Adam Fambrough to create A Helpful Hand Maintenance. Together, they built a company that fills that gap, offering specialized support for playgrounds, classroom safety, sanitation systems, and everything in between.
Shannon holds degrees in Psychology and Early Childhood Education, along with a National Administrator Credential and a Technical Childcare Certificate. She’s also a proud mom of four daughters, grandmother to three, and a passionate runner who’s completed over 80 half marathons.
Shannon’s heart has always been in creating safe, joyful, and developmentally rich environments for children, and now, through A Helpful Hand, she’s proud to support other providers in doing the same.
We take pride in the work we do, because we know it’s about more than just fixing things. Every repair we complete helps create a safer, smoother environment for the children and staff who depend on these spaces every day. We hold ourselves to high standards of integrity, reliability, and craftsmanship. That means showing up on time, communicating clearly, and treating every childcare center with the same respect we’d want for our own families. We’re constantly learning, improving, and staying up to date with licensing standards so we can deliver work that not only meets expectations, but exceeds them. We’re proud to be the team that early childhood professionals can count on.”
